Spencer Watch: The big man names his World XI for 2018/19!

How’s it going guys!

FIFA’s ‘The Best’ awards were recently held in Milan, an evening that had plenty of drama in store.

Lionel Messi beat Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo to the Men’s Player of the Year award, while Megan Rapinoe won the Women’s award for her efforts over the last year – congratulations to them!

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also won the Men’s Coach of the Year award, on a controversial evening where neither Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane made the Team of the Year.

Following the event, Spencer got his thinking cap on and created his own Team of the Year…

MY WORLD XI FOR 2018/19: . 🏆 Every player in this team won a major trophy 📝 Hazard won with Chelsea, De Ligt & De Jong with Ajax 👌3 Liverpool players unlike FIFA XI which only had two?! 🤔 Why can't Men and Women be combined? Thoughts? Alexander-Arnold unlucky to miss out IMO but Lucy Bronze won the Women's UEFA Champions League and had a great World Cup. Swipe to see the FIFA World XI team for comparison. In terms of the men I personally I would have put Salah, Mane, Firmino, Son, Kane, Sterling or Bernardo Silva ahead of Mbappe for last year. Men and Women compete side-by-side for the FIFA Puskas Goal of the Year category so why not this? It's not saying the women are better than the men, it's saying which XI players had the best year IMO.

The big man has gone for England’s World Cup hero Lucy Bronze at right-back, and the aforementioned Rapinoe in midfield alongside Frenkie de Jong and Eden Hazard – it really isn’t a bad team to say the least!

USA World Cup winner Alex Morgan also makes an appearance alongside Messi and Ronaldo in attack, with Alisson, Van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt and Andy Robertson making up the rest of the XI.

While the topic is still hot, we want to hear who YOU would include in your very own Team of the Year.
