Whilst understanding that in the current climate, fixtures are very much uncertain, a potentially very challenging run-in combined with injury worries has meant that Devs has moved this week to bring two new faces in to the club so all of us here would like to welcome Reece Hewitt and Ryan Cosson!  Pending registration approval, players will be in the squad if tomorrow’s game goes ahead, and we would like to record our thanks to Ilford and Witham Town for their help and understanding in allowing these moves to progress quickly.

Ryan Cosson

Ryan Cosson

25 year old centre-half Ryan joins us from Ilford, for whom he played against us recently.  His other clubs have included Aveley, Barking and Brentwood Town.

Konrad spoke to Ryan today to ask him about joining The Tags:

“Joining Hashtag is very exciting and something I could not turn down, having the opportunity to win the league is not something you often get to do.  I want to get stuck in and hopefully win it.  I’ve heard there’s a great solid group of lads, and who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?  It’s good to be playing for a team always in the news for the right reasons, players pulling in the same direction, fighting for the league, and let’s hope we can get promoted this season and continue doing so year after year!

I’m what you’d call a classic centre-half; you never see John Terry playing at right-back, I’m a centre-half through and through. I’m a no-nonsense defender, I’m always talking, leading from the back and always trying to help players.  I’d like to think I can pass and play out from the back HOWEVER most importantly…if in doubt get it out!”

When asked about what player Ryan would compare himself to, he said:

“Not John Terry, he’s too good, and I say that as a Liverpool fan…probably more now, Jamie Carra, a player who wore his heart on his sleeve, gave everything for his team, shouting at people when they’re wrong!”

Ryan is no stranger to a few of the boys, saying:

“I used to play with Tim Pitman and I’m pretty sure we won the league and cup at u18s level.  I also know Farai and played with Lee Hursit a few years ago as well.”

And his interesting Fact?

“I haven’t missed a penalty in 12 years.”

Watch out Smudger and Gleedy, you’ve got a rival!

Reece Hewitt

Reece Hewitt

Reece is a 27 year old versatile left-footer who joins us from Witham Town and has played for Devs and Joe before at East Thurrock and Tilbury.  He said:

“I think you’re a good club on the rise, I like how things are going and I speak to a lot of players and they say it’s a good environment that I just want to be a part of, competing and playing good football.

Obviously it’s really late in the season but there’s loads of games to play still and I want to help the club continue to do exactly what it’s been doing and hopefully at the end of it, we can win the league!

I was at Witham Town where I’ve been for about 8 weeks, but before that I was at Basildon with Newby and Tommo.  I also used to play wing with Joe Keith at Tilbury!  I like getting down the wing, overlapping and whipping dangerous balls in as well as stopping some goals at the other end as well.  I’m not one for comparisons but if I had to compare myself to a player, I grew up watching Harry Kewell.

I actually trained last night, enjoyed it, and it was good to get to know the boys.  I jumped straight into it, it was a good session, and you could see that training was super competitive, it reflects in the league position!  It’s obviously good also knowing Newby, Tom, Peds, and Gleedy.”

And his interesting Fact?

“It’s actually my first full season at full-back!”

Welcome again lads; looking forward to seeing you in the yellow and blue.
