Wolves' impressive win over Liverpool is one of the biggest stories of the FA Cup weekend so far. The Championship outfit had no right to travel to Anfield and pick up a victory but by the end of the 90 minutes it was clear they more than deserved to progress in the competition.

Paul Lambert's side outplayed the Reds in the first half before holding firm in the second half against a toothless Liverpool performance.

Jurgen Klopp had no answers to Wanderers' defensive organisation and has now seen his side dumped out of two cup competitions in four days. Liverpool are having a dreadful January and Saturday's loss only piled on more misery.

Wolves fans won't care about that though and must be extremely excited to be heading into the 5th Round draw.

Here are the FIVE photos that summed up all the action...

On their way

Richard Stearman put Wolves ahead within a minute at Anfield, shocking Liverpool fans and sending the away end into raptures.

The perfect start sent Wanderers on their way to a famous victory and really never looked back, always looking pretty comfortable and confident in holding on to their lead.

Wolves came flying out of the box, clearly inspired by the occasion and the chance to hit headlines against one of England's much fancied sides.

That is exactly what makes the FA Cup special.

Classy finish

Liverpool fans had their head in their hands by the time Andreas Weimann skipped past Loris Karius and slotted home to make it 2-0.

An exceptional counter-attack ripped apart the Reds, Helder Costa slicing through their defence like it wasn't there. Weimann did the rest, taking an onrushing Loris Karius completely out of the game to give himself an empty net to score into.

Costa was superb throughout his time on the pitch, a constant danger to Liverpool and also the man who set up both goals. The on loan Benfica man looked very capable of becoming a Premier League player in the future.

Too little, too late

Liverpool huffed and puffed their way through the second half without much incident before Divock Origi's late goal gave them some hope.

It proved to be too little, too late for Klopp's men and they couldn't break down Wolves determined defence again.

That five minute spell was really the only life Liverpool showed all afternoon in a disjointed performance. it was clear to see that the XI on show don't play together much, at times looking like a side that didn't really know what it was doing.

Lambert's delight

Paul Lambert was obviously delighted with his side's showing and the win was his biggest win as Wolves manager by far so far in his short reign.

They have lots of work to do to get where they want to be in the Championship but this result certainly won't hurt the confidence or belief of his side heading into the final few months of the season.

Cup runs can be massive kick-starters for league form and the Scottish manager must be hoping they can transfer that kind of performance into their week-to-week action.

It was Lambert's fifth game at Anfield as a manager and he hasn't lost any of them, winning three and drawing two.

Klopp's frustration

In contrast to Lambert, Jurgen Klopp understandably cut a frustrated figure on the touchline all afternoon. He was unable to have much of a direct impact on the game with even his substitutes providing little to cheer for the home support.

The Reds have now played 8 games in January and have won only one of them, a 1-0 win away to Plymouth Argyle that has now been made irrelevant by Wolves.

It doesn't get much easier either as they host Chelsea in their final match of the month on Tuesday night. Lose that and we could be talking full blown crisis for the Liverpool manager.
