Leeds United suffered their second defeat in their last three Championship matches having started the season unbeaten in seven when they lost 3-1 against Cardiff City in the Welsh capital on Tuesday night.

The Yorkshire outfit came into the top-of-the-table clash against the Bluebirds top of the league and having bounced back from a 1-0 defeat to Millwall in their previous away trip by beating Ipswich Town 3-2 at Elland Road on Saturday.

However, Thomas Christiansen decided to make five changes from the team that started against the Tractor Boys and they quickly found themselves 2-0 down at the Cardiff City Stadium, and by the time Liam Cooper had received a second yellow card before the break the game was all but gone.

Christiansen's men will be looking to avoid a third straight loss on the road when they face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Sunday, and the Whites boss will be considering making some alterations to his side this weekend.

Here are four changes the 44-year-old must make for the clash against the Owls…

Matthew Pennington for Liam Cooper

Cooper's red card against Cardiff means that he will miss the short trip to face Sheffield Wednesday through suspension, and it is far from ideal considering it was one of the positions that Leeds don't have an awful lot of strength in depth in.

With Pontus Jansson more than likely to start at Hillsborough it will be left to Pennington and Conor Shaughnessy to fight it out for the remaining spot alongside the Swede, with the former probably most likely to come out on top following an impressive showing against the Bluebirds as a half-time substitute.

Eunan O'Kane for Mateusz Klich

Having impressed in the EFL Cup win against Premier League opposition in Burnley last week, Christiansen would have felt comfortable handing Klich is first league start following his move from FC Twente during the summer after finding out that Eunan O'Kane would be missing against Cardiff because of illness.

However, the appearance proved to be something of a nightmare for the Poland international, as he lost the ball in the 28th minute which led to Kenneth Zohore putting the Bluebirds ahead.

The 27-year-old was eventually replaced by Ronaldo Vieira in the 68th minute and O'Kane, who has been so effective alongside Kalvin Phillips in the middle of the park this season, must come straight back in against Sheffield Wednesday if he has fully recovered.

Samu Saiz for Pablo Hernandez

Part of Christiansen's thinking about dropping Saiz to the substitutes' bench against Cardiff was probably because the Spaniard struggled in the defeat to Millwall previously, but he will be tempted to put him straight back into the starting XI at Hillsborough.

The 26-year-old has scored six goals and provided two assists in 10 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire outfit this season and he could come into the side to replace Hernandez on Sunday, with the Spaniard struggling to make an impact in away matches and potentially having been taken off at half-time at the Cardiff City Stadium with a knock.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga for Kemar Roofe

Like Saiz, Lasogga was another of those summer signings that struggled to make much of an impact at The Den previously, and Christiansen chose to go with Roofe in the lone striker role with the Hamburg loanee on the substitutes' bench.

With Leeds finding themselves 2-0 down and seeing Liam Cooper sent off it was hard for the attacking players to make a difference, but it seems certain that Lasogga will return to the starting XI against Sheffield Wednesday having not been risked at all against Cardiff.

With three goals and three assists in four Championship appearances the tall 25-year-old simply has to return at Hillsborough.
