If Aberdeen beat Rangers today, they'll be a massive 15 points ahead of the Gers in the Scottish Premiership with just six games remaining - an almost insurmountable lead, mathematically.

It would all but confirm their status as Scotland's second best side for another season and give them bags of confidence ahead of a massive Scottish Cup semi-final against Hibernian at the end of April.

Rangers arrive at Pittodrie knowing that even a draw could realistically spell an end to their challenge of Aberdeen.

It's going to be a very tough match for Pedro Caixinha and could very well end up be the third game in a row without a win for the new manager, who must be desperate for the transfer window to open.

Can he get the best out of his current squad and get a result?

Here are FOUR reasons why we think that won't happen...

10 in a row

Aberdeen have now won a massive ten matches in a row at home. Their latest victory came over Inverness Caledonian Thistle, a hard fought 1-0 win. That result may not have been the prettiest victory in the world but it's the perfect preparation for Sunday's big clash.

The run has seen them pick up some impressive victories including a 2-0 win over Hearts and an incredible 7-2 drubbing of Motherwell, and they haven't been beaten at home since October - and that was against the rampant Celtic.

What's more they haven't even conceded a goal in their last five matches in front of their own fans.

It all adds up to quite the task for Pedro Caixinha's Rangers.

 Just once

Rangers have won only one match away from home in 2017 so far and that was against Motherwell when they were at their lowest ebb under Mark McGhee.

That 2-0 victory came way back in January and since then they've suffered defeats away to Dundee, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Hearts, also drawing with Kilmarnock and Celtic.

It's a dismal return for any side in the Scottish Premiership, never mind one hoping to push themselves into second position.

When you combine that with the incredible home record of Aberdeen we've already highlighted, it's a case of the unstoppable force going up against the very much movable object.

15 in 17

It isn't just their home form that's been so impressive over the last few months, Aberdeen have an incredible 15 victories in their last 17 matches, and one of those was against the unstoppable Celtic at Celtic Park.

Ropey performance and result against Hamilton aside, Aberdeen's current form would have been title challenge-worthy in any other season. If they'd started the campaign in a more positive manner, the question of Rangers catching them would already be settled.

The Dons are undoubtedly the second best side in Scotland right now in terms of results and consistency and we just can't see a way that Rangers become just the third team in 18 matches to defeat them.

Ten goals in three matches

Rangers won't just catch Aberdeen in winning form but in fine scoring form too, having racked up a massive ten goals in their last three matches.

The majority of that is made up of their huge 7-0 win away to Dundee last Friday night, the biggest away win from any side in the Scottish Premiership this season. Incredibly that was the second time they had scored seven goals in a single match in the last two months.

It's hard to see Rangers' makeshift defence made up of youngsters and struggling players being able to cope with the pace of Aberdeen's wingers or the creativity of their central players. They'll also have to cope with Adam Rooney too, who is shooting for his third consecutive season of 20+ goals.
