Newcastle are going very well in the Championship at present, and it would appear as though manager Rafael Benitez is going to lead his side back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Indeed, it was always expected, given the strength of Newcastle's squad, but the former Liverpool boss has ensured that his side haven't been complacent, often grinding out wins under difficult circumstances.

Currently in first place in the Championship, Newcastle are the favourites to secure the title at the end of the season, but the Magpies must ensure that they are focused right down until the final minute of the campaign.

There are a number of games that could yet disrupt their title and promotion hopes, and Benitez must recognise that.

With that said, here are 3 games that could yet lose Newcastle the league...

 Birmingham

Birmingham aren't doing too well under the stewardship of Gianfranco Zola, but you certainly can't count them out.

Indeed, they have earned 4 points from their last 4 games, and whilst that is not title winning form, it certainly suggests the Blues are becoming a side that are difficult to beat.

Certainly, Newcastle will be favourites for the game - but Birmingham look to be turning a page under Zola, and the former Chelsea man will want to ensure that his side is safe in the Championship this season.

 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday are currently in the play-off places, but only by the skin of their teeth.

Fulham are breathing down their necks with just one point separating the two sides, and so every game is high stakes for the Championship outfit.

They have performed well this season, and the rest of the campaign will be about solidifying their playoff ambitions - a defeat to Newcastle would certainly put a dent in their hopes.

Again, Newcastle will be favourites - but Benitez cannot take this game for granted.

 Leeds United

It is a very similar tale regarding Leeds United, with the side looking comfortable in the play-off places at present.

They have played well this season under Gary Monk, who is impressing as manager, and they look a dead cert to finish in the top six.

Monk will want to ensure that his side doesn't' get complacent, though, and so you can bet that he will push his team to secure a win against the Magpies.
