The season Celtic just experienced may never be repeated in Scottish football ever again. To say it was successful is a massive understatement. Brendan Rodgers arrived at the club and not only became just the third manager in the Hoops' long history to win a domestic treble of trophies, but he did it in unbeaten fashion, not losing to a single Scottish team for the entire season.

It's unprecedented stuff and has already made him a legendary club icon, along with the core of his squad. The fact that only two of his summer signings featured heavily for the Hoops over the campaign is proof that not only is he a great man manager, but the squad already in place before he arrived was mightily talented.

One of the keys for Rodgers this summer will be retaining that talent and keeping this team together. You get the feeling they are at the start of a cycle rather than at the end of one, another reasons Celtic fans are so excited right now.

Here are THREE Celtic stars whose contracts run out over the next 12 months that should be handed new deals.

Scott Brown

Signing a four-year contract in 2014, by the time Scott Brown's current deal expires he will have been with the Hoops for a massive eleven years.

That deal of course runs out in 2018, in just over 12 months. Given he is coming off his best ever season for the Hoops, it's time to get him tied down to a contract extension. That extension may not be four years, but another one or two would go down a treat.

His season has been remarkable. Looking a shadow of his former self last term under Ronny Deila, this season he has been transformed and is arguably Celtic's most improved player.

He also became just the third captain in Celtic history to lift the treble and those three trophies bring his major honours count at Celtic to an incredible 13.

The midfielder may be getting on a bit but apparently has plenty left to give and he deserves every bit of any new deal that may come his way over the next few months.

Stuart Armstrong

While you wouldn't expect Scott Brown to do anything but retire at Celtic, the contract situation of Stuart Armstrong is probably a little bit more urgent given reported interest from the English Premier League.

Just 25 years of age, unlike Brown he has his peak years ahead of him and that makes him a valuable asset whose situation needs resolved with just 12 months remaining on his current deal.

With 17 goals from midfield this season he's shown that he is arguably the greatest midfield talent the Hoops possess, certainly in central areas.

If the Hoops can given him a new multi-year contract it would be a real statement of intent from both the club and the player.

Some fans even reckon he is future captain material when Brown does eventually hang up his boots and committing his future to the club on the back of a fantastic season could be the first step towards that.

Kolo Toure

At 36 years of age, Kolo Toure is nearing the end of a massively successful career that saw him make a huge impact on the English Premier League for Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool. At Celtic it's clear to see his playing years are winding down but it's important to remember he did make a big contribution to the Hoops' fortunes in Europe last summer and autumn.

The former Ivorian international played in three of last season's summer qualifiers, helping Celtic into the group stages where he played a further three matches. While he did eventually tail off as a starter, he has been used as a back-up and as a competent substitute all the way through to May.

His deal is up with the club this summer and while we probably wouldn't propose an out-and-out playing contract, perhaps signing him up as a coach and still holding his registration as a player would be a great way forward.

He's been helping out with coaching and with youth squads all season and his experience could be invaluable in developing younger members of the squad. By holding his playing registration he could still train with the first team and help Brendan Rodgers out if he ever finds himself in a defensive pinch next season.
