After seeing off Southampton last week and jumping up to 9th in the  Premier League table, Slaven Bilic's West Ham now have the chance to pull themselves closer to the team immediately above in 8th, West Brom.

The Irons find themselves five points behind the Baggies but a home win over Tony Pulis' men would put them within touching distance.

What's clear is that a number of good results over the last two months have ensured there's no danger of relegation and West Ham fans can now look up the table in expectation rather than down it in fear.

The exit of Dimitri Payet has done little to upset the team on the pitch and they have in fact looked a more cohesive unit since he decided he didn't want to play for them anymore.

Despite that fine victory at St. Mary's Stadium, the demands of the Premier League being what they are mean that Slaven Bilic must make some changes ahead of the visit of West Brom.

Here are THREE alterations Bilic should consider for the West Brom game...

Jonathan Calleri in for Andy Carroll

There is absolutely no doubt that when fit and on the top of his game that Andy Carroll is the number one pick to lead Bilic's attack at the London Stadium.

However, the English striker was forced after before the hour mark against Southampton, with a re-emergence of the groin trouble he's been having throughout this season the issue.

Managing Carroll's health is key and if there's even the slightest doubt about a problem in this area then he should be rested. The last thing West Ham need is for Carroll to be out for another extended period of time, when he's just coming into good form. They may lack options in this area but it could be the sensible choice going forward.

If Carroll does have to miss Saturday's game then bringing in Jonathan Calleri appears to make the most sense. He still hasn't made a single Premier League start so hasn't really had a chance to impress and recently netted his first goal for the club against Middlesbrough.

Manuel Lanzini in for Sofiane Feghouli

If Andy Carroll doesn't make it on Saturday then we may see a return to the sort of team shape utilised so expertly against Crystal Palace at the London Stadium last month.

That day saw Feghouli and Lanzini play through the middle behind Carroll supported by Michail Antonio's dynamic right wing play.

Lanzini is an obvious contender for playing that role behind the likes of Calleri and should come in for Feghouli, whose right midfield position would default to Antonio.

An interesting partner to play with Lanzini would be Robert Snodgrass, coming in from the left-hand side to perform a role he enjoyed at Hull City, and allow Aaron Cresswell to offer a more solid defensive option on that left side.

James Collins in for Cheikhou Kouyate

Another injury doubt for the weekend's match is defender Cheikhou Kouyate, who picked up a knock in last week's trip to Southampton. Given Sam Byram also missed last week's match and that Bilic has other injury problems at the back, he may opt to go for a back three, in which case bringing in James Collins would be the obvious choice.

Collins is a dependable option with vast experience and also so happens to be undefeated in his last four starts in a West Ham shirt, part of that big victory over Crystal Palace and also helping his side to draws against the likes of Manchester United.

What's clear is that squad fitness is going to be the biggest determining factor in Bilic's selection on Saturday and although a headache for the Croatian, we've seen in the past his has the adaptability to overcome these obstacles.
