Three changes Mark Hughes should make vs. Crystal Palace
Shaqiri in for Afellay
Xherdan Shaqiri missed last week’s match due to injury but if he beats a late fitness test then he should come right back into the starting eleven.
The Swiss international has a storming start to the season with three goals in his first five matches but has been less effective since, not netting since October.
Still, he is one of the Potters’ most effective creative players, as shown in their last Premier League outing at Sunderland when he put in a fine performance on the right hand side of Stoke’s attack.
He’s certainly a better option than Ibrahim Afellay, who has struggled to fit into Hughes’ plans this season. The 30-year old Dutchman has made just four starts this term and has done little in those showings to convince anyone he should be getting more game-time.
