Three Fraser Forster replacements Southampton should target in January
Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster’s poor form continued in the 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday when he failed to keep out Glenn Murray’s header.
The 29-year-old is coming under increased scrutiny from the south coast outfit’s supporters, despite the fact that he has kept four clean sheets in 10 Premier League appearances this season.
However, the 6ft 7in stopper has been struggling for form for a while now and while he looked to be at fault against the Seagulls, he has also had his fair share of wobbly moments throughout the campaign.
According to Squawka following the 2-2 draw against Newcastle United, the England international had made more defensive errors (4) than any other Premier League player, with two of those leading directly to goals.
But it isn’t just his mistakes that are attracting the criticism, with the lack of command of his area and his distribution also being brought into question.
As a result of all of this, Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino could choose to bring in a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window with Alex McCarthy failing to bring the required competition, and there are a number of stoppers they club could potentially be looking at.
