Club football returns this weekend, much to the joy of fans up and down the country. For Rangers that means Scottish Premiership action is back and they host Dundee at Ibrox Stadium, looking to keep pace with the likes of St Johnstone, Celtic and Aberdeen ahead of them.

After an impressive victory over Ross County last time out, confidence should be high going into this fixture. However, as we've seen many times at Rangers over the last 18 months, inconsistency comes to the fore just when they look like they've turned a corner.

A win in front of their own fans would build trust and momentum going into a big month of fixtures that includes League Cup action and a massive derby clash against Celtic.

Getting the team selection right will be key for Pedro Caixinha and he has a number of options to choose from after a summer of heavy recruitment.

These are the THREE selection calls we reckon the Portuguese should make for the visit of Dundee...

Give Carlos Pena his first start

Carlos Pena was one of Rangers' big summer signings, arriving at the end of June. Despite having been at the club for months, he's yet to make a start for the Light Blues and fans are eager for him to see what he can do.

He did get some minutes last time out, coming off the bench vs Ross County, and with another 2 weeks of training under his belt, surely he is approaching the kind of fitness that will allow him to feature regularly for Pedro Caixinha's side.

The Mexican international theoretically has the quality to be a real hit in the Scottish Premiership but he needs the game time to prove it, or fans will naturally lose patience with both the player and Caixinha's decision to bring him to the club.

Is the Dundee match the perfect chance to properly introduce him to the Ibrox supporters?

Play Eduardo Herrera with Alfredo Morelos

Alfredo Morelos has started his Rangers career in fine fashion, scoring five goals in his first seven matches and showing everyone that his future at Ibrox could be very bright indeed.

Eduardo Herrera's arrival at the club hasn't seen the player reach peak form quite as quickly, with fans having to wait until his fourth appearance to see him hit the back of the net. That came in the last match before the international break against Ross County and that smart finish could be the springboard he needs to play and score regularly in the Rangers team.

The big-man-little-man dynamic is a classic one in football and Herrera's target man play could be perfect for Morelos to feed off, even if his current partnership with Kenny Miller has proven to be fruitful.

In their last match at Ibrox though, Pedro Caixinha's side struggled for goals and perhaps turning to this pairing from the start on Saturday could be the key to victory.

Drop Niko Krancjar for Aaron Nemane

Despite eventually winning 3-1 in their last match away to Ross County, it wasn't quite a perfect performance from Rangers and perhaps the biggest room for improvement would be replacing Niko Kranjcar, who didn't have the best of days. It was his loss of possession that handed the Highlanders a lifeline in the match, also squandering a decent chance to put the game beyond doubt in the second half.

With a few contenders ready to fight for places, dropping him to the bench could be an option for Pedro Caixinha. With Declan John and Aaron Nemane knocking on the door on the left hand side, the Portuguese has two hungry young players eager to show what they can do.

John would be a pragmatic choice but unleashing Nemane is the order of the day, with his direct attacking ability capable of taking the Dundee defence by storm.

He's yet to make his debut but in front of 50,000 fans and bottom six opposition, Saturday is the time to hand him it.
