Chelsea are on the cusp of a historically successful season. With the FA Cup still a possibility and the Premier League in their own hands, the Blues are eyeing up their second double this decade. It is, potentially, going to come in the first season of a manager, the first season of an Italian manager, just as their first double did back in 2010.After their disastrous 2015/16 campaign, largely down to the collapse at the start of the term under Jose Mourinho, Chelsea were not expected to enjoy a season anywhere near as good as this one has been to date. Antonio Conte has led the revival through excellent man-management and smart tactical decisions and must be lauded. It could easily all come crumbling down for Chelsea in the following months. More likely, however, is that the Londoners continue to go from strength to strength.Under the guidance of Conte, they are capable of notching their second double, here are THREE reasons why…

With Wolves their next opponents, Chelsea have been fortuitous with the draws in the FA Cup so far, and should that continue, there is no reason they cannot go all the way.

This trend has enabled them to play weakened teams, which has kept their stars fresh for their title push. Michy Batshuayi, Kurt Zouma, Nathaniel Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been used almost exclusively in cup football, and the four have a great deal to prove to Conte as they play for minutes next season.

With all their talent, the extra motivation is only going to make Chelsea’s second string stronger.

Relaxing with Antonio?

Even the concept of a team becoming complacent under the stewardship of Antonio Conte is funny. The Italian is fiercely competitive, hard-working and will not let his players take their eye off the ball in either the league or the cup.

He is unafraid to admit that he wants to win it all and Chelsea have a good chance of winning their two remaining competitions. While defeat to one of their top six rivals is possible, it's pretty tough to envisage this Chelsea team slipping up against a weaker side, and that only narrows down the potential teams that can end their double dreams.

Disappearing over the horizon

Chelsea could have the league title all but wrapped up in a matter of weeks. Their closest challengers at this point, Manchester City, do not play Conte’s side for a few weeks, by which time Chelsea could be well clear at the top of the table.

Their opponents before that clash with City are Crystal Palace, Stoke City, Swansea, Watford and West Ham. On their current form, the Blues could feasibly claim victory in all of these matches, taking the strain off of their clash with City.

That will allow them to focus slightly on the cup and relax a little towards the back end of the league season.
