According to reports in German publication SportsBild, Bayern Munich are ready to send winger Serge Gnabry out on loan despite only completing a £7m deal to sign him from Werder Bremen earlier this month.

The Bundesliga champions brought the 21-year-old forward to the Allianz Arena on a three-year deal, but they are considering loaning him out straight away in order for the young German to continue his development.

With first team opportunities potentially going to be limited under Carlo Ancelotti next term if the Bundesliga outfit bring in another forward this summer, it would certainly be a sensible move and the former Arsenal man may prefer to stay in Germany following his recent success there.

However, Premier League clubs are also likely to be interested too and Ronald Koeman may feel that the wide-man can offer could add a real threat to his side’s attacking options in the top flight and in the Europa League next term.

Here are three reasons Everton must target Serge Gnabry this summer…

His statistics

Quite often young wingers lack the consistency and end product to be a success at the highest level, but Gnabry showed last year at Werder Bremen that perhaps he is ready to make the step up.

The 21-year-old scored 11 goals and provided a further two assists in 27 Bundesliga appearances last term – with the majority of those coming from the left-hand side – which means he found the net on average every 179 minutes.

Those are statistics that convinced Bayern Munich to sign and they also suggest he is ready to make a big impact in the Premier League if he is given an opportunity – something Koeman could be willing to give him.

While Koeman has the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Kevin Mirallas and Ademola Lookman at his disposal, he may feel that he needs another wide player this summer in order for his squad to have the strength in depth they need to compete in the Premier League and Europa League.

Lookman especially is still young and developing and the addition of Gnabry on the left-hand side would take some of the pressure off of him for another season, but also wouldn’t block his pathway to the first team in the long-term.

International ambitions

While Gnabry may be featuring for Germany at the European Under-21 Championships right now – scoring in their opening group game win against the Czech Republic – he will know that as well as needing to impress Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti if he does go out on loan, he will also be looking to catch the eye of Joachim Low too.

With the 2018 Russia World Cup less than a year away and with the 21-year-old having scored three goals in just two caps for the senior side, he will know that he has a real chance of being named in Low’s final squad if he enjoys a successful season.

That is something that would only benefit Everton if he moved to Goodison Park on loan.
