According to reports on TEAMtalk on August 15, Leeds United have contacted Ross McCormack’s representatives over a potential move back to Elland Road this summer.

TEAMtalk says that the Whites are considering moving for the 30-year-old as they are fearful that Chris Wood could leave the club this summer with Burnley and West Bromwich Albion interested in bringing the New Zealand international to the Premier League.

The report adds that sources close to the Scotland international have confirmed that the Yorkshire outfit have been in contact over a potential deal for the attacker, who has endured a miserable time at Aston Villa since joining the Midlands outfit from Fulham last summer.

If the deal did go through, the striker would return to the club he enjoyed such success with between 2010 and 2014 before completing a move to Craven Cottage.

Here are three reasons Leeds should bring McCormack back to Elland Road…

Goalscoring

While McCormack has struggled to make an impression during his time at Villa Park, he certainly showed his ability in the previous three seasons at Championship level.

The 30-year-old scored 28 league goals for Leeds before following that up with 38 in two campaigns with Fulham, and he has shown that he can regularly find the net with some moments of real quality.

Whether the Yorkshire outfit are to lose Chris Wood or not, McCormack could prove to be an inspired addition as the club looks to secure a Premier League return.

If Wood was to go, then Leeds would be left with Caleb Ekuban as their main striker and that would be a worry for Thomas Christiansen and the supporters considering he has only just started his career in English football.

Having already failed to find the net in the last two games, the Spanish manager would ideally like to bring in a player with Championship experience in the event that the New Zealand international does go, and with almost 350 appearances at this level to his name McCormack would be the obvious option.

Feel-good factor

There seems to be a real feel-good factor around Elland Road at the moment because of their summer transfer dealings and their unbeaten start to the Championship season.

While Leeds supporters may not agree with how McCormack went about leaving the club in 2014, there is no doubt that his return would eventually be a boost for the fans, even if it does take them a little while to come around.

The forward scored 58 goals in 158 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire outfit during his previous spell at Elland Road and he became something of a fans’ favourite, and the 30-year-old may feel that he has unfinished business to complete.
