Leeds United will look to bounce back from their disappointing 1-0 defeat to fellow top six side Reading when they face mid-table Brentford at Griffin Park on Tuesday night.

The Whites were leapfrogged by the Royals as a result of the loss on Saturday evening, with Yann Kermorgant’s goal proving to be the difference between the two teams.

While Garry Monk’s side were perhaps looking up the table prior to the clash at the Madejski Stadium, they may well be nervously looking over their shoulders now after slipping down to fifth position in the Championship standings.

The Yorkshire outfit are now just six points above seventh-placed Sheffield Wednesday with seven matches of the season remaining, and the former Swansea City manager will know that now is not the time to endure a poor run of form.

Here are three reasons why Leeds will be on the losing side again when they face Brentford…

Their away record

Leeds’ defeat to Reading on Saturday was their eighth on the road in 19 Championship fixtures this term, and it is a record that will be starting to worry Garry Monk.

While they have been brilliant at Elland Road, they have struggled to replicate the form at their stadium away from home.

Unless they turn things around in the run-in, it could be the reason they fail to finish in the play-off positions at the end of the season.

Pressure

Saturday’s defeat to the Royals means that the Whites have now taken just five points from the last possible 12 available, and some may be worrying that the pressure is starting to tell for Garry Monk’s side.

They certainly aren’t used to being in the position they are in after a number of disappointing seasons, and a number of defensive mistakes at the Madejski Stadium – perhaps not helped by the absence of Pontus Jansson because of injury – only increased those fears.

Brentford's record against big teams

While the Bees have endured a rather inconsistent campaign, they come into this clash against the Whites on the back of successive wins and have picked up some impressive results at home against the sides at the top this season.

The fact that they beat Aston Villa 3-0, Reading 4-1 and drew 3-3 with Brighton at Griffin Park shows that they can be more than a match for the best teams in the Championship on the day, and Garry Monk will be hoping it isn’t the case on Tuesday night.
