Leeds United will look to further cement their spot in the Championship play-off positions when they face fellow top six side Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

The Whites are currently in fourth position and eight points ahead of seventh-placed Fulham with eight matches of the season remaining, and they may still have one eye on the automatic promotion spots too as they sit the same distance behind second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion.

Garry Monk’s men are unbeaten in their last seven league fixtures – including a 2-0 win against the Seagulls before the international break – but that record could come under threat when they face Jaap Stam’s side in Berkshire.

The Royals are just one place and two points behind their opponents from Yorkshire, and they have only lost one of their previous six Championship games.

Here are THREE reasons Leeds United will slip up against Reading on Saturday…

Chris Wood's fitness

The New Zealand international is the top marksman in the Championship with 24 league goals to his name, showing just how influential he has been for his side this season.

However, he picked up a knock on international duty while playing for his country last week and while Garry Monk is confident that he will be fit for the trip to the Madejski Stadium, there will be questions marks over whether he is at 100%.

Not many sides have come to the Madejski Stadium and taken all three points in the league this season – in fact, only two have.

Aston Villa beat the Royals 2-1 in October, while Jaap Stam’s men also lost 1-0 at home to Queens Park Rangers in January.

However, they have won 12 of their 19 matches in Berkshire and they will fancy their chances of increasing that against a Leeds team that has lost seven times on the road.

Jaap Stam will want revenge

When Reading played at Elland Road back in December, the home crowd chanted “boring” at the Royals players who ended the game with 77% possession, yet did little with it as the game ended with a 2-0 win for Garry Monk’s men.

Stam will quick to hit back at the Whites supporters following the defeat for his side, and he will want to get one over on them through his own style of play when the two teams meet again on Saturday.
