According to BBC Football, Manchester United are closing in on a £75m deal to sign Everton striker and Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku.
With Diego Costa set to leave the Premier League champions this summer, Blues manager Antonio Conte had expected to replace the Spaniard with the Belgium international just three years after he left Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal, according to BBC Football.
However, their former boss Jose Mourinho now looks set to win the race for the 24-year-old, who scored 25 top flight goals as the Toffees qualified for the Europa League last season.
While the news may come as a blow to Conte, the Italian will still be confident that missing out on one of his top summer transfer targets won’t prove to be a hindrance for his team as they look to retain their Premier League trophy next term.
