On Saturday, a sold out Ibrox will witness by far the biggest fixture in Scottish football this weekend and one of the biggest in Britain full stop as Rangers go head-to-head with Hibernian in what will be a fiery and keenly contested match-up.

50,000 supporters will come together for the first time since the controversial and spectacular 2016 Scottish Cup Final when Hibs lifted the trophy for the first time in over 100 years, leaving Rangers fans despondent. Scenes after the final whistle in which both sets of supporters entered the field of play only added to the drama and it's fair to say there is no love lost between the two clubs.

It will have the feel of a derby about it and save for the upcoming clashes between Celtic and the Ibrox side, could be the most talked about fixtures of the entire season.

With Rangers' starting their domestic season superbly, they'll likely go into the match as favourites but we reckon they'll need to be at their absolute best if they're to see off Neil Lennon's Hibs side.

Here are THREE reasons why the Edinburgh club will be no pushovers on Saturday...

They've already scored 21 goals this season

If Rangers' start to the season has been impressive then Hibernian's has been outstanding. They've demolished almost every team in their path and while it's true the majority of those competitive matches have come against lower league opposition, you can't argue with the manner in which they are winning matches.

Neil Lennon's side have scored a fantastic 21 goals already, with forward Simon Murray nearly reaching double figures on his own with 9 goals in all competitions.

From the 6-1 trouncing of Arbroath to the 3-1 Scottish Premiership win against Partick Thistle, the goals have been free flowing and it's clear Lennon has instilled a winning spirit and confidence into his squad.

With players like Efe Ambrose, John McGinn, Dylan McGeouch and Anthony Stokes, they have players who can perform at Scottish top-flight level consistently and it's going to take a big performance from Pedro Caixinha's side to see them off.

Hibs have beaten Rangers six times in recent years

In terms of recent meetings between the two sides then that also goes in Hibernian's favour. Hibs have won six times against the Light Blues in recent seasons, stretching back to when the two sides competed in the Scottish Championship.

The Edinburgh side picked up impressive 3-1 and 2-0 wins against Rangers in the 2014/15 season and of course famously in May 2016 when they overcame Mark Warburton's side at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final.

That recent winning pedigree against the Gers should give the squad confidence, the majority of whom have tasted victory in big matches against the Glasgow giants playing for Hibs.

Of course, the last meeting between the sides at Ibrox was a 4-2 win for the home side, showing that on their day Rangers can really punish visitors, but you get the impression they'll have to reach those heights again if they are to pick up all three points.

Neil Lennon has some famous results at Ibrox already

Not many opposition players or managers have a good record at Ibrox and even in Neil Lennon's case, he's lost more than he's won at the home of Rangers over the years in both capacities.

However, it's also true to say that not many people can boast of having won a fantastic seven matches at the arena from the away dressing room, something Lennon has achieved across his playing and managerial career at Celtic.

It's a place that never gives him a warm welcome and he's often responded to that atmosphere with big performances from the 2-0 win when he was manager, with Georgios Samaras shining, or way back in 2001 when the Hoops went to Ibrox and destroyed them 3-0, with Lennon playing a pivotal role in midfield.

No-one quite knows what's going to happen when Lennon's side take the field on Saturday but you'd be brave to bet against his side getting some sort of result.
