Three reasons Newcastle must get a deal for Danny Ings over the line
According to reports in The Sun on July 31, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is a fan of Liverpool striker Danny Ings and could look to bring him to St James’ Park before the summer transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.
The 25-year-old attacker has only recently returned to training following an operation on his knee and while Benitez is keen to bring him to St James’ Park, The Sun suggests striking a deal with the Reds could be difficult with relations strained following the Magpies’ pursuit of winger Sheyi Ojo earlier in the summer.
The Spaniard wants to strengthen his squad in order to ensure that they aren’t embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle in the upcoming season on their return to the top flight.
However, he is yet to bring in a new striker despite The Sun saying the Tyneside outfit have been interested in the likes of Arsenal’s Lucas Perez, Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham – who opted to join Swansea City on loan – and Villarreal’s Cedric Bakambu.
