Three reasons Newcastle should hijack Watford’s move for Nathaniel Chalobah

According to reports in The Independent, Watford are leading the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah in a £5m deal this summer.

The 22-year-old endured a frustrating 2016/17 campaign under Antonio Conte as he struggled for first team football, and The Independent says he will leave the Premier League champions in the coming weeks unless he is given assurances that he will have more playing time next season.

However, that is unlikely as the Blues close in on a deal to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and even though Conte is a fan of the England Under-21 international, he will be sold this summer if he is unwilling to extend his current contract, which runs out next summer.

While the Hornets appear to be ready to offer the Three Lions youngster the regular game time he is craving, Magpies manager Rafa Benitez will surely be keeping a close eye on the situation.
