According to reports in The Times, Paris Saint-Germain attacker Julian Draxler has been told by manager Urai Emery that he is surplus to requirements and he will be allowed to leave for £32m this summer.

French publication L’Equipe, via Football365, had originally reported that the 23-year-old was no longer part of Emery’s plans following the arrival of Neymar from Barcelona, despite the fact that the Germany international only moved to the Parc des Princes from Wolfsburg during the January transfer window this year.

Draxler didn’t exactly flop either and he quickly adapted to life with the Ligue 1 giants, but it obviously hasn’t been enough to convince PSG and Emery that he can have an impact in the future.

The Times says that Arsenal could reignite a long-term interest in the German ,but their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur might also be keen as they look to once again conduct all of their summer transfer business towards the end of the window.

Here are three reasons Tottenham should go all out to sign Draxler…

Ability

While he may not have convinced PSG that he can go on to become a key player following his performances in the second-half of last season, Draxler will perhaps count himself a little unlucky.

The 23-year-old, who predominantly featured on the left wing for the French giants, scored 10 goals and provided a further five assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.

The Germany international showed his ability to run with the ball by successfully completing 30 of the 41 take-ons he attempted in 17 Ligue 1 outings, while his 6'2" frame also helped him to win nine headed duels.

There is little doubt that Draxler would bring something to the Totteham attack and provide some much-needed quality and competition for the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min in the attacking positions.

Statement of intent

Following their second-place finish in the Premier League last season, it is obvious that Tottenham don’t need a major overhaul of their squad but it would be mad not to add a couple of players that can really make a difference before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.

Aiming to compete for the English top flight table as well as making an impression in the group stages of the Champions League at their temporary Wembley home, signing Draxler would certainly be a statement of intent and make some of their league and European rivals sit up and take notice.

The Germany international was a key part of the side that won the 2014 World Cup and he also captained a relatively inexperienced national squad at this summer's Confederations Cup, meaning left-back Danny Rose certainly wouldn’t have to Google who he is!

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy watches on

One of the reasons Tottenham are yet to make a splash in the summer transfer window is probably because of some of the outrageous transfer fees being thrown around.

Chairman Daniel Levy would prefer to wait for prices to drop or for a good deal to come around, and the latter has definitely been achieved with Draxler being available for £32m.

Following his performances for PSG last term and the fact that he has five goals in 35 caps for his country despite being just 23 years of age, it is clear to see how highly-rated the attacker is and he could certainly prove to be something of a bargain buy for Spurs – in terms of modern day prices at least.
