According to reports in the Daily Mail, Manchester City forward Nolito is said to be unhappy with a lack of playing time in recent months and could look to leave the Etihad Stadium in search of regular first team football this summer.

The 30-year-old only joined City from La Liga side Celta Vigo in July on a four-year deal but he could already be on his way out of the exit door following a frustrating second half of the campaign.

The Spaniard looked impressive in the early stages of the season and he has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s men, but the majority of those outings have come from the substitutes’ bench.

With continued doubts over the fitness of Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho, Slaven Bilic will be looking to bring in a new attacker this summer and he could do a lot worse than take a closer look at the Spain international.

Here are three reasons West Ham should look to sign Nolito…

He is a goalscorer

After hitting double figures in three consecutive seasons for Celta Vigo prior to his move to Manchester City, the forward would have been hoping to do the same for the Premier League side.

However, it hasn’t quite worked out like that with starts at a premium, although he has scored six goals and provided a further five assists in 1,349 minutes on the pitch.

Given more game time – as he would get if he moved to the London Stadium – he has already proven that he has the potential to reach a higher level.

He is versatile

The Spaniard is able to play anywhere across the front three and that versatility will make him an attractive proposition for any Premier League manager should the forward want to remain in England.

As a left-footed player, Nolito would be comfortable on that side or as a striker, while he would be able to cut in if he played on the opposite flank.

With Slaven Bilic deploying a 3-4-3 formation in recent weeks, the 30-year-old could prove to be the perfect option on the left side of the attack where he is able to create and find the net.

He has a point to prove

If he does leave Manchester City to join a rival Premier League club, the Spain international will have a few points to prove.

Firstly he will want to show Pep Guardiola that he can be a success in the English top flight, and secondly he deserved to be playing more regular football at the Etihad Stadium than perhaps he has done.

In addition he will still be hoping to be named in the Spain squad for the 2018 World Cup, and to do that he will know that he needs to get on the goal trail.
