Motherwell are having a tough week. The fact they were thrashed 7-2 at Pittodrie, had their manager sent to the stands and then also had him involved in a bizarre spat with Aberdeen fans means that a trip to Celtic Park on Saturday couldn't really come at a worse time.

Celtic are on an incredible unbeaten run, having not been defeated by a single Scottish team this entire season so far. Streaking ahead at the top of the table, they're well placed to pick up another three points against the Steelmen.

Will it be easy, though? Motherwell are the team that have arguably run them closest in recent months, playing their part in a thrilling 4-3 win for Celtic at Fir Park.

Mark McGhee's 'Well are also the last Scottish team to pick up a win at Celtic Park, defeating the Bhoys 2-1 back in December 2015.

Is that enough to convince you they have a chance? Perhaps not, but Motherwell will likely believe they can do it anyway.

Here are THREE things 'Well need to do to have a chance of a result on Saturday...

Get at the full-backs

Part of the reason Motherwell were so competitive in that 4-3 encounter late last year was their ability to close down and harass Celtic's full-backs. Taking them out of the game meant a key component of Celtic's forward movement was stifled.

Emilio Izaguirre had a particularly poor game while Mikael Lustig was also left exposed as Motherwell's wide men ran them ragged and were able to get in behind the Celtic defensive line on multiple occasions. That will be a tougher ask on Saturday now Kieran Tierney is back but it's a tactic they must employ again.

Even if unable to contain the forward runs of Tierney and Lustig, they'll know that the space left behind on their forays forward into the final third leave lots of space to exploit on the counter-attack. Is that where they can create the golden chance needed?

Don't miss even one chance

The number one lesson at Celtic Park is never miss your chance, not ever, if you hope to get any sort of result. Chances come so few and far between against the Hoops when they play at home that you really need to stick them away.

Lucky then that the Steelmen boast the talents of Louis Moult, who appears to love a goal against the Hoops. He scored two against them in December and also in December 2015 when his double gave McGhee's men a massive 2-1 victory.

His clinical finishing skills will be required again this Saturday. If the likes of Chris Cadden can supply the key pass then the 24-year-old striker has the composure required to bang one home. With 13 goals already this season, he's proven again he's one of the top strikers in the entire league.

Sustain the press over 90 minutes

The big problem teams in Scotland are having this season is maintaining their performance level over an entire 90 minutes. If you look at the pattern of when Celtic goals go in you'll find that the majority of them come in the last 20 minutes of a match.

The gameplan against Celtic in the first 45 minutes is easy and if you catch them on an off day there's a path to a goal, St Johnstone and Motherwell themselves have shown that recently. High pressing, high work rate and quick counters are vital, but doing that in the second half is a much tougher prospect.

However, it's something Motherwell must do if they're to get a result on Saturday. It's either that or defend deep and hope you get lucky and catch the Hoops on a day they can't finish chances. Given the form the likes of Moussa Dembele are in, that's unlikely.

Maintaining a high tempo and a consistent, combative press is the key to matching Celtic. The problem is the Hoops are looking fitter and stronger than any other Scottish team right now, so can Motherwell really do it?
