Another weekend of Scottish Cup action is upon us and for Rangers it's a chance to escape the pressures of Scottish Premiership football and book their place in a massive Hampden semi-final.

The semi-finals of the competition are shaping up quite nicely, especially if the favourites in each of this weekend's match-ups make it through. Aberdeen, Hibs, Rangers and Celtic have all avoided each other and if all four win this weekend then those Hampden occasions are going to be massive no matter how the draw shakes out.

Hamilton don't care all about that though. They will see Saturday's match as a chance to take a step closer to their first major final since 1935. It's a tough ask to go to Ibrox and win but given the recent troubles of the Gers, it's a winnable tie or at least one they can take back to New Douglas Park in a replay.

Can they pull it off?

Here are three ways that they can...

Expose the lack of organisation in Rangers' defence

Rangers got back to winning ways against St Johnstone on Wednesday night but it was far from a convincing performance, especially defensively. Winning 3-2 thanks to an injury-time Emerson Hyndman effort, it looked to be an evening of more dropped points for Graeme Murty's side, thanks mainly to some poor defending and a baffling sending off challenge from Rob Kiernan.

We saw last week against Inverness Caledonian Thistle too that Rangers' defensive problems aren't going away with bad communication and no leadership when the ball is in their box.

Hamilton should exploit this with direct balls into the final third and a physical presence in challenging said passes. It's been apparent that even basic defending is a problem right now, whether due to a lack of confidence or lack of direction without a permanent manager.

The biggest danger to the Rangers defence could be themselves and making sure the ball is in that area, even if not directly threatening, could give Hamilton a way into the match through an error.

Double up on Barrie McKay

Barrie McKay looked in lethal form on Wednesday night against the Perth Saints. With some silky skills on show, including a cheeky back-heel turn on the touchline, and the vital opening goal, he showed why he's gaining ever more hype this season.

Hamilton need to counteract that threat by doubling up and making sure he doesn't have the space to dribble into the final third where he can do damage. There are question marks about the attacking ability of Rangers' other players right now so stifling McKay could be enough to frustrate the Rangers team.

Doubling up on a player often leaves spaces for his teammates to exploit, but that's preferable to letting McKay to run the show at Ibrox.

Building towards a late smash and grab

I don't think there's any people under the illusion that Hamilton can go to Ibrox and dominate the game but they do have the ability to stand firm and not concede for the majority of the match. Their confidence is high after a massive victory over Aberdeen and the one-off nature of the Scottish Cup should provide motivation to give their travelling support the 90 minutes of their lives at Ibrox.

If they can keep things level well into the second half then they'll see and hear the tension start creeping into the home support, which will transfer itself onto the pitch. Then they can start showing more ambition in attack potentially nick a winner. We've seen it happen so many times at Ibrox and even Celtic Park, will it happen on Saturday?
