Tottenham Hotspur will look to close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea to just one point when they face arch-rivals West Ham United at the London Stadium on Friday night.

Spurs kept up the pressure on the Blues by beating Arsenal 2-0 in the final ever north London derby at White Hart Lane on Sunday, with quick-fire second half goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane proving to be the difference between the two sides.

The result ensured that they will finish above the Gunners in the table for the first time since 1995, but Mauricio Pochettino’s men have bigger fish to fry with just four matches of the season remaining.

They come up against the Irons who have endured a disappointing season at their new home – Slaven Bilic’s men are currently in 15th position but they have the incentive of being able to jump to ninth with a win against their neighbours from the capital.

Here is the predicted Spurs XI that will line up and beat West Ham…

The Tottenham and France captain has proven time and time again that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and he kept yet another clean sheet against arch-rivals Arsenal in the final ever north London derby at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The stopper will know that if he can do the same at the London Stadium on Friday, there is every chance Mauricio Pochettino will take the points because of their firepower at the other end of the pitch.

Eric Dier

The England international has fond memories of this fixture having scored the winning goal on his Tottenham debut in a 1-0 win at the Boleyn Ground in 2014.

With Mousa Dembele only able to make the substitutes’ bench last weekend following a minor injury, Dier lined up alongside Victor Wanyama in the middle of the field.

However, with Spurs likely to revert to a 3-4-3 formation in order to match up with their opponents on Friday night, he could find himself as part of the back-three again.

Toby Alderweireld

Doubts have been cast over the Belgian’s future with Tottenham after news emerged this week that he has already turned down two new contract offers as he looks to at least double his current £53,000-a-week wages.

There is also a disagreement over a release clause that is due to be activated if Spurs choose to extend his deal by a further year in 2019.

Fans will know that he is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and they will be pleading for the club to reward him for his strong performances.

Jan Vertonghen

It is never easy coming up against a front three of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil and staying strong, but that is exactly what the Belgian did last weekend as Tottenham kept a clean sheet against their arch-rivals.

Vertonghen had little to in all honesty but he knows he may have more of a battle if he comes up against Irons striker Andy Carroll on Friday, with the attacker renowned for his strength and ability in the air.

Kyle Walker

Like teammate Alderweireld, doubts have been cast over the future of the right-back after he was linked with a move to Manchester City, before being left out of the side for the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea and win over Arsenal last weekend.

Kieran Tripper was preferred on those two occasions – a decision which is said to have frustrated Walker – but the England international could once again take his place in the starting XI on Friday night as Spurs look to record their 10th successive Premier League win.

The Belgian was only fit enough to make the substitutes’ bench last weekend following an injury he picked up in the win against Crystal Palace, which forced Mauricio Pochettino into a formation change.

However, Dembele did come on as a late substitute against the Gunners and he will be fully fit and ready for the clash against the Irons at the London Stadium.

He will be looking to reignite his partnership with Wanyama in the middle that has proved to be so successful this term.

Ben Davies

With Danny Rose undoubtedly the first choice left-back at Tottenham, the Welshman perhaps wouldn’t have expected to make as many appearances as he has this season.

However, an injury picked up by the England international in January has kept him on the sidelines since, and Davies has quiet gone about his business and done a solid job on the left-hand side for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

With Irons star Michail Antonio out for the rest of the season, Davies will be looking to make sure Edimilson Fernandes – who started on the right last week – is defending more than he is attacking on Friday night.

Dele Alli

The Tottenham star continues to go from strength to strength and he proved just how confident he is in the 2-0 win against Arsenal last weekend.

After a decent chance in the first half in which he should have scored with his head, he continued to get himself in decent positions and he was on hand to stab home the opener for the hosts in the second half – his 17th Premier League goal of an incredible season.

He will look to provide a goal threat again on Friday to keep his team right in the title race.

Along with Alli and Harry Kane, the Dane has been in brilliant form this season and he once again played a major part in the win against the Gunners.

After hitting the crossbar in the first half – when perhaps he should have done better – his shot 10 minutes into the second half was well saved by Petr Cech, but Alli was on hand to stab the ball home and send the majority of the White Hart Lane crowd into raptures.

While the England international will still be focused on staying in the Premier League title race at the London Stadium on Friday night, he will also have one eye on keeping in contention to win the Golden Boot.

The 23-year-old scored his 21st top flight goal of the season from the penalty spot against Arsenal last weekend and he will know that he needs to get on the scoresheet against another London rival if he is to close the gap on Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, who has netted 24.

It could be a tough task against an Irons defence that have kept two successive clean sheets, though.
