England will rely on budding Premier League stars at EURO 2016. The Three Lions’ young squad looks almost completely different to the one that flopped so terribly at the 2014 World Cup, with progress having been made since that trip to Brazil.
Leading the squad is Harry Kane, who was crowned as the Premier League’s top scorer last season and is as short as 18/1 to win the golden boot at Euro 2016. Together, he and Jamie Vardy, the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year and second in Premier League goals chart, make a formidable English attack.
Accompanying them are John Stones, Eric Dier and Dele Alli, players that have emerged in recent years on the Premier League front. Aside from Vardy, all of the aforementioned players are age 22 or under, and none of them have played in a major tournament, which could be a positive or a negative, depending on one’s outlook!
This young English team still has high expectations, however – England are 5th in the FIFA rankings. The team’s most notable game in the upcoming tournament comes on June 16 against neighbour Wales, which will mark the first time the two have ever met in a major football tournament.
Here are the young stars that will try to bring England their first ever EURO trophy…
