Ousmane Dembele is one of those Barcelona signings that is yet to fully warrant his big price-tag.

The Catalans reportedly forked out an incredible initial sum of £96.8m for the now 22-year-old who is still trying to find his groove at the Camp Nou.

And yes, the world has already seen that there's talent underneath that youth and insecurity but how long will the Blaugrana wait for one of their most expensive signings in history to start doing what he was supposed to be doing right from the start?

Maybe the best example of how inconsistent Dembele is at the moment was actually Barcelona's clash with Sevilla on matchday eight of the ongoing 2019/20 La Liga campaign.

The young Frenchman was on the scoresheet after netting a beautiful strike that was preceded by an even better solo run but for every moment of brilliance and sheer quality, there's a silly mistake waiting right around the corner.

For instance, apart from tallying that goal and three successful dribbles, Dembele also completely fluffed his lines and missed one great chance, was dispossessed on three occasions and got himself sent off right at the end of the game.

By all standards and especially by what is expected from him, those numbers are simply not enough for a player that could cost Barcelona £135.5m when all bonuses are added up.

Not to mention his constant injury woes and fitness problems, which often keep him out of commission in the first place.

So he actually rarely plays and when he does, he often turns in underwhelming performances along the way.

Of course, there's also the positive spin on the whole story. After all, Dembele has scored 19 goals and assisted a further 17 in the 69 games he has played for Barcelona so far.

Those figures are not bad but there's also too much bad for every good thing he does and for a player that's supposed to be a star at Barcelona of all places, it might not be enough.

One way or the other, Dembele will have to improve his performances if he wants to ensure that there is a future for him at the Catalan giants.

The talent is certainly there but will everything else follow?
