Frenkie de Jong arrived at Barcelona as one of the most coveted young midfielders in Europe after having a great season at Ajax.

The 22-year-old Dutchman was acquired by the Catalans for a reported fee of £65.3m but has, so far, apparently struggled to shine the way he did for his former team.

And Ronald de Boer, former Barcelona player and coach of the Ajax youth team, seems to think that is due to Ernesto Valverde's weird management of the young star, who was played in positions clearly unknown to him.

Of course, as soon as the fans heard about this, they quickly agreed and many of them took to Twitter to express their own worries over Valverde potentially ruining the "best midfielder in Europe".

They bashed their own coach for not being able to get the best out of young talents in general and some even think De Jong is heading down the path of Philippe Coutinho, who was loaned out to Bayern after a failed spell at the club.
