Barcelona's recent success against Celta Vigo at the Camp Nou was very much a Lionel Messi show.

The little Argentine was once Blaugrana's saviour as he bagged a rather impressive hat-trick of set-pieces, rattling the inside of the visitors' net with a penalty and two free-kicks.

By all means he played a major part in their victory, and Sergio Busquets slotted the fourth and final goal home to confirm that dominant triumph.

But it's rather easy to get carried away and forget that other players even exist when Messi does his magic, especially since he does it so often and it's always so mesmerising.

Still, one other player that was thrown into the fire by Ernesto Valverde was Junior Firpo.

With the injury to 30-year-old Jordi Alba, it was up to Firpo to deputise for his absence and needless to say, the 6-foot newcomer truly did an outstanding job at that left-back position.

The young defender played the full 90 minutes and won two ground duels and tallied three interceptions in the process.

But in so many ways, he was extremely involved in all the proceedings on the pitch.

Firpo recorded 94 touches and 96% passing accuracy, suggesting that he was very secure on the ball and he only lost it on six different occasions throughout the clash.

He also managed one key pass, one successful dribble and was not dribbled past himself at all.

The best part is, however, that according to WhoScored, he was the player with the best passing accuracy and second-most touches in the whole Barcelona team.

By all standards, he took this opportunity with both hands and repaid Valverde's trust.

Not only that but he proved he is a worthy Alba replacement and that his coach can finally count on him moving forward.

It has taken him a while but his Blaugrana career might finally be starting.

Let's see whether he can continue this good trend moving forward.

With Alba still sidelined, he will definitely have to, for both his and the club's sake.
