Barcelona’s predicted lineup vs Sevilla in La Liga

After a successful Champions League clash in midweek, Barcelona once again turn their gaze upon La Liga.

The Catalans are welcoming the Andalusian giants, Sevilla, to the Camp Nou are will definitely be looking to extend their good streak in the Spanish domestic competition.

They do, however, still face some injuries and suspensions that will definitely affect Ernesto Valverde’s choices for his lineup against Sevilla on Sunday.

With all of that taken into consideration, here’s what we think Barcelona’s starting XI could look like on the weekend. Note, however, that the official squad lists have not yet been named so there’s a possibility that some things change last-minute.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is definitely going to start between the sticks for the Catalans. That is probably the only thing that we can say with absolute certainty as far as Barcelona’s lineup is concerned.

Jordi Alba could be getting his medical green light come Sunday night but that has not yet happened and even if it does happen some time during the weekend, it’s unlikely Valverde starts him straight away from the get-go.

For that reason, and because their second choice left-back Junior Firpo is also injured, Nelson Semedo might have to deputise and once again be played out of position.

Clement Lenglet is also going to sit this one out because of the red card suspension he received in Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Getafe on matchday seven. For that reason, the 19-year-old Jean-Clair Todibo could very well make his season debut next to Gerard Pique. Over at right-back, Sergi Roberto is likely to start once again.

The midfield should stay the same with the trident of Sergio Busquets, Arthur Melo and Frenkie de Jong deployed once more in the middle of the park – after a report claiming Valverde has identified them as his favoured midfield three.

Up front, Lionel Messi should start the game once again, having made his big return against Inter Milan in the Champions League. Valverde is likely to partner him up with Luis Suarez at the centre-forward position and Antoine Griezmann on the left, as he did in midweek.
