According to a report from El Desmarque, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the services of Barcelona's Nelson Semedo but the clubs currently don't agree on the evaluation of the player.

What's the word, then?

The same source claims that the 26-year-old Portuguese international is somewhat struggling at the Catalan capital.

But even with that being said, they value him at around €50m (£42.4m), which could be a problem for Spurs since they are, at the moment, only willing to spend about €36m (£30.5m) to land their man.

Semedo's agent is keen on his player's move to the Premier League and it seems that the failure to agree on a suitable fee is the key sticking point.

The player, meanwhile, simply wants first team opportunities and to feel important at his new club, while he's also a fan of Jose Mourinho's defensive qualities.

Verdict

Semedo has registered 933 minutes across 16 games in La Liga, suggesting that he is still a regular part of Ernesto Valverde's plans, but he's been in and out of the starting lineup throughout the ongoing campaign.

So far, he has started 11 of the overall 16 games, while also missing three due to an injury.

But, as El Desmarque mention in their initial report, Barcelona are not entirely convinced by his performances and that could see him shipped off in the near future.

Still, it seems that the English outfit don't share that sentiment.

The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 - how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?

Selling him now, however, would allow the Blaugrana to chase other targets like Joshua Kimmich or even Adama Traore, as the same source explains, and that is something worth considering.

Meanwhile, many Spurs fans were simply not happy with one of their player's horrible display in the FA Cup...
