Sensational reports have emerged from Spain that Real Madrid have attempted to sign Lionel Messi three times in the last 5-years.
According to the Cadena COPE Radio Station, Los Blancos representatives have approached the Argentinean international in 2011, 2013 and 2015, an enquiry that has fallen upon deaf ears.
Lionel Messi has once again been in inspirational form this season that saw him land a record 5th Ballon d’Or award earlier this month, beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar in the process.
Real Madrid are no strangers to audacious move for Barcelona players, having previously brought the Brazilian Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Luis Enrique to the Bernabeu from their deadly rivals; however a move for Lionel Messi would have represented an incredible transfer coup even by Florentino Perez’s previous standards.
Any renewed efforts to sign Lionel Messi appear unlikely, with the Argentine set to sign a new bumper deal at the Nou Camp that will see his wage nearly double from €22 million to €42m.
