Real Madrid have been on the rise recently, at least as far as their domestic exploits are concerned.

After experiencing what can only be described as quite a rocky start to the new 2019/20 campaign, Los Blancos have finally picked up the pace and are currently sitting top of La Liga, ahead of both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

While their collective efforts under Zinedine Zidane have been greatly improved, which is further emphasised by the fact that Real are still unbeaten in the Spanish top-flight, it's difficult to escape the notion that certain individuals have been shining brighter than the rest.

And their 27-year-old right-back, Daniel Carvajal, has certainly been among the group that's been carrying the team on his shoulders with three assists and eight appearances to his name already.

That was not the case throughout the whole campaign, however.

At the very start of the season, Carvajal was one of the targets of harsh criticism by many fans but as his performances improved, so did the fandom's general opinion of their Spanish defender as they were quick to shower him with all sorts of praise following his 50th Champions League appearance for the club, which came in a 2-2 draw against Club Brugge.

His latest venture with Spain, though, only serves the purpose of further proving Carvajal's red-hot form.

Unfortunately, all his national team could get was a 1-1 draw against Sweden in their Euro 2020 qualification match but the 27-year-old was still on fire.

Carvajal stayed on the pitch for 81 minutes and was heavily involved in all the proceedings across the field. He tallied 112 touches on the night, two blocked shots, one interception and one tackle.

But he was also effective going the other way, recording a total of four key passes, nine crosses and two accurate long balls.

Not to mention that he also maintained 88% passing accuracy with 76 accurate passes to his name.

By all standards, which are pretty high at the moment, Carvajal was one of the best performers for Spain and that warranted him the second-best rating of the night with 7.7, according to Sofascore.

These kinds of performances truly do show why he is so valued back in Madrid.

After all, he has only missed two games across all competitions for Los Blancos so far, once because of a suspension and once due to being rested.

Zidane will certainly be hoping his form continues, particularly as Real face Barcelona in El Clasico next weekend.
