Eden Hazard was Real Madrid's big summer purchase but the Belgian is still in the process of getting used to life in La Liga.

And recently, when he was asked about the rough early days at the Spanish capital by La Dernière Heure (via AS), the 28-year-old laughed it off.

What did he say?

Hazard recently participated in Belgium's Euro 2020 qualification games as his country recorded a 2-0 victory over Kazakhstan.

The 28-year-old produced another masterful display, grabbing an assist and three key passes along the way, and is seemingly getting close to his very best form.

Of course, Real and manager Zinedine Zidane will be particularly happy to see that as La Liga is finally returning this weekend and besides, Los Blancos have a lot of tough challenges to face this month - including El Clasico.

When he was asked about his recent form for his new club, however, Hazard denied going through a rough patch and just laughed off the criticism, stating he doesn't really speak Spanish well enough in order to understand everything that's being said.

Here are his words in full:

"No, I have not lived through difficult weeks at Madrid. I know we talk a lot about Real everywhere, that's why I'm here, but I still do not understand Spanish well. I don’t see the criticism."

Right mentality

Although it might be too early to jump to any conclusions, a big Galactico signing that cost Real Madrid a reported sum of £89m has to be expected to hit the ground running. So far, that hasn't really happened for the Belgium superstar.

In the six games he has played across all competitions for Los Blancos, Hazard has only scored once, while adding just one assist.

Clearly, he will have to improve on that, but Hazard's comments hint that he's in the right mindset to do so. They indicate that whatever criticism he has received so far hasn't really affected him, and that he's maintained faith in his own abilities.

Some of his performances for Belgium were simply outstanding during the international break - he registered two assists in the 9-0 thumping of San Marino - so maybe the almighty Hazard of his Chelsea spell is just around the corner.

His latest comments offer hope that a return to form won't be far away.
