Zinedine Zidane's men are finally starting to tick the way he imagined it.

Real Madrid have picked up their form as of late, going on an eight-game streak without defeat. Still, with all of that improvement, they are still lagging behind Barcelona in the La Liga table.

For that reason, Florentino Perez might look into the market once again to boost his squad even further.

Recent whispers from Spain, as reported by Calciomercato, insist the Galacticos are preparing a huge bid for Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly, as the defender is seen as someone who could take over the mantle from Sergio Ramos.

While Koulibaly is a name well-recognised across the footballing globe, Real Madrid already have a young centre-back waiting in the pipeline.

Eder Militao arrived as a big addition for a reported fee of around €50m (£43.5m) but, despite that, he has only managed to make five appearances across all competitions so far this season, registering 390 minutes in total.

The possible incorporation of someone of Koulibaly's stature would likely be the final nail in his coffin and mark a premature end to his Real Madrid career.

But Militao wouldn't be the only one handed a blow since the 28-year-old centre-back has been a big target for Manchester United in the past.

In the end, of course, they went for Harry Maguire and it doesn't look like the 6ft 1 Serie A star will remain a top priority for the Red Devils.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently admitted the club won't rush into any big-money signings in January, which could also mean Napoli's star is out of the question for the time being.

"Not many clubs want to sell players that they would otherwise want to keep in January. Maybe one or two could be a loan deal but that is not a big money thing, it is just to help the team."

Still, if Real Madrid really end up going on the offensive, chances are they will secure their target, as they usually do, and that would close the door for Manchester United for good.

Only time will tell how Ed Woodward feels about that.

Meanwhile, many Spurs fans were delighted with their star's brilliant piece of skill vs Bournemouth...
