Gareth Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has spoken exclusively to talkSPORT and revealed his player won't be leaving Real Madrid to join Tottenham Hotspur.

What's the word, then?

Barnett has revealed that Spurs never actually submitted an official offer for Bale but he didn't deny suggestions that Daniel Levy made a trip to Madrid in January.

Of course, the player himself was heavily linked with a return to London on deadline day, as talkSPORT explain in their report, but all of that seems to be false.

No clues whatsoever: Which seasons do these iconic Spurs images belong to?

Interestingly enough, Barnett is convinced that Bale won't move to Spurs even upon the expiry of his contract in 2022.

Here's what he said in full when asked if Spurs had made an offer in January:

"No. [Levy] may have [visited Madrid], it’s not for me to say whether he did or didn’t. Gareth is very happy over there."

And then, when he was asked if there's a chance he'll move at the end of the contract, Barnett replied:

"I don’t think so, no. He’s in a very fortunate position. When his contract is up hopefully he will sit down with me and his family and decide what he wants to do."

Verdict

One way or the other, and regardless of Spurs' interest, it seems that Real Madrid are stuck with Bale.

If Barnett's words are anything to go by, the player has no intention of leaving the Spanish capital before his contract expires in nearly two years time.

Of course, at the moment, it's difficult to tell whether Zinedine Zidane still has him in his plans as the player has been absent for quite a while, registering only 15 games across all competitions in 2019/20 - he was last seen in La Liga at the very beginning of January.

But it seems that the French gaffer will have to find a place for him in the squad with a transfer away from the Bernabeu looking unlikely anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to go toe to toe for a young and prolific forward...
