On Wednesday night, Tottenham Hotspur sent a very clear message that they mean business in the Champions League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team already proved that they can hold their own against elite opposition when they restricted Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu.
At Wembley, though, the players took a step forward by sealing a 3-1 victory over Zinedine Zidane’s side, which also sent the club into the last 16 of the competition.
Dele Alli, who had missed the first three group games due to a UEFA ban, scored twice before Christian Eriksen wrapped it up.
In the end, Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal was solely a consolation for the Spanish giants, who have lost back-to-back games for the first time under Zidane since January.
Osvaldo Ardiles, who is widely regarded as a Tottenham legend, delivered his verdict of the match on Twitter, and pointed out a key difference between the two clubs.
The difference: we were a Team. Fighting for each other. Helping. Going the extra mile. Real: a collection of very talented individuals. COYS

Spurs have two more group games to play before they take on the first knockout round of the competition.
