Freedman doesn’t regret Crystal Palace decision

Dougie Freedman insists that he does not regret his decision to leave Crystal Palace to manage fellow Championship outfit Bolton.

The Eagles secured a  5-0 win over Ipswich this week putting themselves top of the table.

Meanwhile, Freedman’s new side sit near the foot of the division, occupying 17th position.

Despite this vast gap, the Scot believes he has made the right decision to join the Trotters:

“It doesn’t surprise me what I’m seeing, I’m very, very proud of what I’ve done,” He responded when asked by SkySports how he feels about the fortunes of his old club.

“I’ve taken a team that was in the bottom three and going nowhere with no assets and no money and I’ve left a team at the top with millions of pounds of assets on a budget that was difficult at times.

“No one can ever take that away from me, what I’ve build there. But I’ve got no regrets.

“This opportunity of managing Bolton, this opportunity of the challenge of trying to get them up the league and out of this league drives me on.

“I’m proud of what I’ve left, but right now my full energy and focus is on getting Bolton into some sort of momentum that can get us a few points and then we’ll see what happens from there.”

Freedman’s Bolton take on Blackpool this weekend as they look to add to their tally of 19 points and edge away from the bottom end of the table.
