Roland Duchatelet sent the Charlton fanbase into hysterics yesterday when the club announced that he and Lee Bowyer had been unable to arrive at an agreement that would see the impressive Addicks boss remain in the dugout beyond the summer - a failure that would have undoubtedly put a dampener on the SE7 outfit's stellar 2019.

However, in a bizarre turn of events, Bowyer has now put pen to paper on a contract extension worth almost double the previous offer put to the former midfielder, according to The Times (subscription required).

It's nothing less than he deserves, though, having guided the Addicks to Wembley Stadium, where they would go on to best Sunderland and secure a long-awaited return to the Championship for 2019/20 - all on a shoestring budget.
