Charlton emerged 2-1 victors over fellow promotion hopefuls Portsmouth on Saturday, with goals from Joe Aribo and Lyle Taylor either side of the half enough to secure a crucial three points at The Valley.
Addicks boss Lee Bowyer waxed lyrical about a number of his players, including both goalscorers – Aribo, though, drew special attention from his manager after the game, who said:
“Joe [Aribo] is just improving. The good thing for me is he is getting in the box. I keep drumming into him ‘Just get in the box, just get in the box, things will fall for you’ and he’s doing that. I thought he was outstanding, not just his goal but his all around game. I can’t even remember him giving it away at all. He wins the ball back, he breaks it up. He’s got everything, he’s very good.”

The midfielder, playing alongside Josh Cullen and Krystian Bielik, was excellent in his all-round game, with his stylish finish the cherry on top of a fantastic showing.
As Bowyer says, it is important for the 22-year-old to offer as much going forward as possible after the sale of Karlan Grant in January – the strike was his sixth of the season and the former Staines Town man will surely want to add to that tally as the campaign winds down to a close.
The Addicks are now eight points clear of seventh-placed Peterborough – securing a play-off spot is surely all in their own hands now, with 10 games to go.
