Lots of Portsmouth fans have been reacting to a big piece of news, as they will play Sunderland in the Checkatrade Trophy final at the end of the month.

Pompey's opponents were confirmed on Tuesday night, as the Black Cats beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 in their semi-final.

As a result, two fallen giants will meet at Wembley at the end of the month as the promotion chasers go head-to-head for the first piece of lower-league silverware of the season.

Both sides are already battling for promotion to the Championship; Sunderland are third, with 68 points, while Pompey are fourth, three points back.

They have met just once this season, with Portsmouth emerging victorious in December; goals from Gareth Evans, Ronan Curtis and Ben Thompson gave them all three points.

They will meet again in the penultimate game of the League One season, when promotion could well still be on the line.

And, fresh from beating them in the league, many Portsmouth fans are confident of another day of Wembley glory.
