Sunderland fans have been left highly frustrated by their side’s 1-0 loss against Coventry City.
If they had come out on top against the League One high-flyers, then Phil Parkinson’s side would currently be sitting second in the table, but as it stands, they are now fifth.
While this still means they are in the play-off places, it does feel like an opportunity missed, especially as the goal that separated the sides came after two minutes.
There will be Sunderland players who are questioned for their respective performances and Denver Hume is one of them.
One fan described this as his “worst game in a red and white shirt”, while another has claimed that he was “extremely poor”.
The 23-year-old made two tackles, but was also dribbled past once and failed to make any interceptions or clearances.
He was also very sloppy in his passing, completing just 59% of those that he attempted, while going his entire 69 minutes on the pitch without managing a key pass.
Denver Hume had a bad game today. His performance was extremely poor, and before he becomes a George Honeyman-type scapegoat, he needs to be taken out of the firing line for a game or two, for the team’s benefit as well as for his own good. #SAFC 🔴⚪️

There have also been more general criticisms of the academy graduate, as one fan referred to him as “by far the worst footballer I’ve ever seen in my life”.
He has made 28 starts and one substitute appearance in League One for Sunderland this season, scoring one goal and adding a further three assists.
However he hasn’t been great defensively, averaging 0.9 tackles, while committing 0.5 fouls and being dribbled past 0.5 times. In addition, he makes 0.5 interceptions and 0.9 clearances, indicating why Sunderland fans feel he could do more.
Denver Hume is the worst LB ever

Very painful. Denver hume has no positional sense going forward or defensively.
