David Moyes officially began his spell in charge of Sunderland today, and his opening press conference had no shortage of key takeaways.
Amongst discussions into his ambitions for the season and the importance of his players, he also gave fans an insight into what to expect from Moyes’ transfer policy over the coming weeks.
He revealed that he did have an interest in Man Utd stars Fellaini and Januzaj, and added that the club were actively seeking alternative targets.
In fact, he even suggested that the club have bids prepared for a host of new talent.
With that, here are FIVE players that could follow Fellaini and Januzaj to Sunderland…
Beginning with the longest-rumoured story, it seems inevitable than Yann M’Vila will be a Sunderland player soon.
The midfielder did of course spend last season at the club, in a loan agreement that was made with his parent club Rubin Kazan.
The move has reportedly hit a number of stumbling blocks, but with both parties keen to make the deal happen; it only seems a matter of time before it is confirmed.
A player that has a less certain future than M’Vila, Andre Ayew has been the target of a host of Premier League clubs this summer.
He has been the subject of a number of bids, but with his future still up in the air – David Moyes could still go after the wanted man.
He has been a long-term target of the club, and his pace and technical ability would sure aid a side that will no doubt be struggling near the bottom of the table next season.
Watch this space.
An unlikely transfer saga; it seems that Paddy McNair is the target of a host of clubs this summer, both within the Premier League and abroad!
The talented defender has been told he can leave Man Utd this summer, and a host of clubs are keen to bring him in. He looked solid whenever called upon at United, and so he could definitely do a job under Moyes at Sunderland.
The Daily Star is reporting that Sunderland are one of four sides interested in him, and that any deal for the defender will have to be wrapped up quickly.
A less familiar name reportedly in the pipeline is Filip Helander.
Helander is a central defender, current playing playing for Hellas Verona in Serie A, for whom he made 24 appearances last season.
The Daily Express are suggesting that an offer of around the £3-4 million mark should be enough to snap up the talented defender, with both Newcastle and Sunderland keen.
This has all the makings of a future deal.
Another unknown name in Britain, David Moyes is also reportedly targeting one of Euro 2016’s stand out stars in Domagoj Vida.
HITC are reporting that he wants to make Vida his first signing as Sunderland boss, with the new manager particularly concerned with the defensive frailties of his inherited Sunderland side.
It remains to be seen whether the deal will go ahead; but it seems that Moyes’ interest is definitely concrete.
