Sunderland fell to defeat to Coventry at the weekend and that has led some fans to suggest that Phil Parkinson needs to freshen up his starting line-up.
It is easy to see why, since he has only made changes recently due to injury issues, but the Black Cats were unfortunate not to take something from the game, enjoying a majority share of possession while Charlie Wyke and Tom Flanagan could have both scored with first-half chances.
However, they did fail to test Marko Marosi sufficiently with just two shots on target, particularly late on as the Sky Blues remained resolute.
The likes of Kyle Lafferty and Antoine Semenyo didn’t have enough time to influence proceedings, while another new signing in Josh Scowen remained on the bench once again.
Supporters are becoming fed up with that familiarity, and are keen to see the former QPR man given a chance, with his Championship pedigree likely appealing to some.
Scowen should definitely be playing

First impressions of Scowen when he came on for such a little period was positive less so of Semenyo but with little game time how can anyone influence anything!
Something needs to change to help try and create!

Spot on mate, he’s improved tons under Parkinson. If scowen is as good as his reputation suggests he might be that guy

Instead, Parkinson has operated with his preferred duo of Max Power and George Dobson in the centre of midfield, but after they achieved respective WhoScored ratings of 6.5 and 6.4 on Sunday the Black Cats’ boss could decide to switch things up.
Some supporters certainly seem to believe that he should, arguing that Dobson is the player who should make way, and given he has contributed just 0.3 key passes and 0.7 interceptions per game, per WhoScored, it is clear to see why.
Whether Parkinson makes any changes is yet to be seen, as his side have still only lost twice in 16 games, leading one fan to suggest that Dobson should keep his place, with the following discussion taking place.
Not knockin Dobson as such but it’s either him or Power and he ain’t gunna drop his captain. We need to play Scowen or what was the point in signing him and Lafferty definitely needs to start

Absolutely baffled that people want to drop Dobson who, along with Maguire, has been the best player on the pitch in recent games. I get that people wanna see Scowen play but dropping Dobson would be silly. #SAFC

Don’t think he contributes anything offensively. I think he’s done alright recently, but I want to see Scowen come into the team and think he’s got more to offer. Power is captain and fairly irreplaceable IMO.

Declan John hasnt been fit to play
Would love to see Scowen play getting sick of Dobson
