The majority of the Sunderland fans that answered our recent poll have said that they would support manager Jack Ross if he made a January move for Bolton right-back Pawel Olkowski.
The Black Cats lost 3-1 away to league leaders Portsmouth on Saturday and thanks to a number of injury problems they were left extremely short in defence.
Central midfielder Luke O’Nien was once again called upon to play at right-back, and although the 24-year-old scored Sunderland’s goal this is surely a position that Ross will need to address in the winter transfer window.
A move for Olkowski could be perfect then. The 28-year-old only joined Bolton from FC Koln during the summer, but the Daily Mail recently reported that several first-team players have already asked their agents to find them moves away in January after they were kept waiting for November wages amid the financial problems surrounding the club.
Olkowski is a Poland international with 13 caps and convincing him to drop down to League One would be a huge boost for Sunderland’s promotion push.
