Loads of Sunderland fans are desperate for the club to sign Peterborough United playmaker extraordinaire Marcus Maddison.
Sunderland fell at the final hurdle in their attempt to make an immediate escape from League One, collapsing at Wembley against Charlton.
What was blatantly obvious in the game was the lack of technically gifted midfielders, as Jack Ross’ workhorses just could not hold on to the ball.
Some creativity and composure on the ball in the middle third must be a priority this summer, and fans are eyeing up Maddison, who racked up more than 20 assists for the second season running.
The 25 year-old, who has been linked with the Black Cats before and was born in Durham, posted on social media earlier this season about the Netflix documentary on his “boyhood club”, sending fans into frenzy.
In his last four seasons, he has registered 16, 18, 23 and 23 assists respectively, and the Stadium of Light faithful are practically begging him to join after he tweeted a statistic showing his creative excellence.
