Sunderland ace going nowhere

Simon Mignolet Sunderland Goalkeeper

Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will not be leaving this summer according to his agent Kristof Vandersmissen, as reported by Sky Sports.

Italian club Napoli are reported to be lining up a big money move for the Black Cats stopper but Vandermissen has denied having talks with the Serie A club.

Mignolet has been in impressive form for Sunderland who have been lead to safety by Paolo Di Canio with games to spare after an abysmal second half of the season under Martin O’Neill.

The 24 year old still has two year remaining on his current deal at the Stadium of Light and the North East club will be hoping to extend that even further in the coming months.

Mignolet’s agent is proud that his client is being linked with major European clubs but insists he will remain a Sunderland player.

“Napoli interested in Mignolet? I have also read this news, but personally I have had no contact with Napoli or any other Italian clubs,” Vandermissen

“Simon has a contract for another two years with Sunderland and it’s normal that clubs are interested. That is proof that he is doing well.

“However, I repeat, he has a contract with Sunderland.”
