Sunderland boss wants Everton star as shock inclusion in Kone deal

Sunderland boss David Moyes is keen to secure the signature of Phil Jagielka as part of any deal that could see Lamine Kone head to Everton, according to reports from the Mirror.

The centre-back merry-go-round has now kicked into gear following John Stones’ switch from Goodison Park to Manchester City, with speculation that Kone is set to join Ronald Koeman’s Toffees revolution doing the rounds.

Naturally, this will leave Sunderland short of options at the back, and reports claim that Moyes is keen to address this by having Jagielka as part of any deal between the Black Cats and their domestic rivals.

The Scot signed the now 33-year-old centre-back while in charge of Everton in 2007, and the former England man was ever present in some of his best teams on Merseyside.

Jagielka, who will turn 34 next week, is facing an uncertain future under Koeman and could be tempted by the chance to reunite with Moyes.
