Sunderland eyeing Euro title-winning star amid Kone speculation

Sunderland are keen on Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida, according to reports from ESPN.

The Black Cats are set to kick off their summer transfer plans now that Sam Allardyce’s move to replace Roy Hodgson as England manager has been rubber-stamped and David Moyes drafted in as his replacement at the Stadium of Light.

And amid speculation that Everton are readying a tempting £18m move for Lamine Kone, reports claim that Vida is a target.

The Croatia international starred for Dynamo last term as they won the Ukrainian Premier League title.

Vida, although a key player for the Kiev club, is understood to be available for the right price, and is wanted by a host of teams.

Even if Kone stays, Sunderland remain short of defensive cover, with Sebastian Coates, Santiago Vergini and Wes Brown having all been allowed to move on.

Vida featured for his country at EURO 2016, featuring in three of their four games as they reached the last 16.
