Sunderland fans dream of Neil Warnock following his departure from Cardiff

Neil Warnock has left Cardiff City after three years in charge, but the timing of his departure is a source of frustration for some Sunderland fans, as they would have loved him as their manager.

Phil Parkinson was appointed just a few weeks ago to replace Jack Ross, but his return of two wins from his first seven matches means he is yet to win over the Stadium of Light crowd.

Many supporters feel the experienced Warnock would have been a perfect fit for the Black Cats, and given he has a record eight promotions on his CV, including three from the Championship, he could be the galvanising figure the club needs.

However, with Parkinson in charge it is extremely unlikely there will be a change of personnel – unless the disastrous form continues – but with Warnock previously stating that 2019/20 would be his last year with the Bluebirds, he could be planning for retirement anyway.
